How to play
Pipe Rush
Controls
| Mouse | Click an empty cell to lay the next piece of the queue (the one with the gold frame) · hovering a cell shows a ghost of that piece · the "Pour now / Speed up" button sits at the top right of the table |
|---|---|
| Keyboard | Arrow keys move between cells · Enter or Space lays a piece · F pours (during the countdown) or speeds the brew up (while it flows) · Enter on the menu / result card starts a game |
| Touch | Tap an empty cell to lay · on a narrow screen the table is turned to 7 cells wide and 10 tall (the pieces in the queue turn with it: what you see is what lands) · a swipe scrolls the page and lays nothing |
Rules
- The table has 10 × 7 cells and one tank facing one way. When the countdown ends (classic 15 s, rush 10 s, shorter on higher levels) the brew pours out of the tank into the cell in front of it
- Seven pieces: a horizontal and a vertical straight, four elbows and the cross · pieces are laid one at a time in the order of the queue (the next 5); the order cannot be changed, so drop an unwanted piece on any free cell
- The brew runs through a piece that has an opening on the side it comes in by, and leaves by the other · into an empty cell, a crate, the edge of the table, a piece with no opening on that side, or a piece already full = it spills
- The cross has two separate channels: the brew can run straight through it horizontally and vertically, one at a time
- You may lay over a piece the brew has not reached yet (50 points off) · never over a piece with brew in it, the tank or a crate
- Spilling after the goal number of pieces = the level is cleared: a new table with more crates, faster brew and a longer goal (at most 40), the queue carries on · spilling before the goal ends the game
- A game lasts at most 60 minutes; then it ends with the score as it stands
Scoring
| Each piece the brew runs through | 50 (100 while sped up) |
|---|---|
| A cross filled both ways | +100 bonus |
| Level cleared | +200, minus 25 for every piece the brew never reached |
| Laying over a piece | −50 |
| Pour now / Speed up | During the countdown the brew starts at once · while it flows it runs much faster until the level ends, 100 per piece - and spills just as fast when the pipe is not long enough |
The score never goes below 0 · any game that ends with more than 0 points can join the table, whether it spilled, was ended or hit the 60 minutes
Modes
| Classic | 15 s to plan (−1 s per level, at least 5 s) · 2.5 s per piece (1/6 s faster per level, at least 0.75 s) · goal 10, 13, 16, … · crates from level 2 (2, 4, 6, 8) |
|---|---|
| Rush | 10 s to plan (at least 4 s) · 1.75 s per piece (at least 0.6 s) · goal 13, 16, 19, … · crates 1, 3, 5, … (at most 10) |
The score table
Ranked by score, highest first; equal scores go to the game that ended first · enter a name (2-20 characters) and a country and the score joins the world table and your country's; the best score of each name is shown · the server replays every piece laid with its timing, checks that the score is exactly right, and compares the game's clock with the real time since the start; a game that does not match stays off the table
Tips
- Lay the first piece in front of the tank, then build outwards; drop pieces you cannot use yet in a far corner, never across the way you are heading
- Loop back into a cross by its other channel: length and a bonus in one
- Build well past the goal before speeding up: double points per piece, but a pipe that is too short spills before the goal
